About Sanjeevika

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. Ayurveda has been enjoying a major resurgence in both its native land and throughout the world. Tibetan medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine both have their roots in Ayurveda. Early Greek medicine also embraced many concepts originally described in the classical ayurvedic medical texts dating back thousands of years.

Ayurveda is a science laid down by the great Indian rishis. The science of Ayurveda is based not on constantly changing research data but on the eternal wisdom of our Rishis and Gurus. Ayurveda offers guidance that has been tested, refined and nourished over many centuries to all those who seek greater harmony, peace and longevity

More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vital while realizing their full human potential. Providing guidelines on ideal daily routine, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit.

Swasthya (Health) means to be ‘established in the self’.

The Ayurvedic view of healthy person is:

“Samadosha, samagnischa, Samadhatumalkriyah,
Prasannatmendriyamanah, Swasthaitiabhidhiyat”

(Sushrut Samhita, Sutrasthan, Ch. 15, Shloka10)

i.e. “He whose  doshas  are in balance, appetite is good, all tissues of the body and all natural urges are functioning properly, and whose mind, body and spirit (self) are cheerful or full of bliss, he is a healthy person.”

The two principle objectives of Ayurveda are:

1.) To prolong life and promote perfect health.

2.) To completely eradicate the disease and dysfunction of the body.

According to Ayurveda, Health is not just merely absence of disease. Health is a state where all Doshas are in a balanced condition and mind, soul and senses are in a state of inner peace and contentment.

The theory of the three Doshas- means functional energy. Balance of three doshas are central concept of this science. They are - Vata, Pitta & Kapha

These three doshas or bio-energies combine in each person, in proportions that vary from person to person. Each of these doshas are further subdivided into five sub-doshas. When any of the doshas accumulate in the body beyond the desirable limit. The body loses its balance. Every individual has a distinct balance and our health and well-being depends on getting a right balance of the three doshas (tridoshas).

Ayurvedic treatment does not suppress the main symptom and create new ones as side effects of the main treatment. It aims at removing the root cause and give permanent relief.

“Swasthya Swastha Rakhshanam, Aturasya vikar prashamanamcha”

i.e., to protect health and prolong life & to eliminate diseases and dysfunctions of the body.
